When you want the Cherries and you feel you only have a bowl of pits

Feeling like you are grabbing at the short straw lately when it comes to fulfillment, happiness, and a sense of wholeness? Well, you are not alone I can assure you. Life’s joy’s come in waves. Because change and transition are really the only constant in our lives, we must make the most of every wonderful moment that brings us joy, and not get caught up when the wave breaks at the shore.
Holding on to the hope of better days offers the opportunity for adventure, excitement, renewal, and strength to forge ahead with the new road map for the new day, and the challenges it presents. When we set our compass for positivity, and belief that we can attain our hopes and desires not only makes the waves easier to ride and the detours easier to navigate but it also increases our chances of receiving what we hope for. That’s the real bowl of cherries. Capitalize on your creativity for a new way to invent yourself. Grab that backpack of successful strategies that helped you in the past be whole, resilient, and optimistic.
Whether an illness which is a fearful, uncomfortable worry or the burden of disappointment in any area of our life we experience feelings that bring discontent. Elizabeth Kubler Ross said “The five stages of anger, denial, depression, acceptance, and bargaining are part of the framework that makes up the learning to live with what we have lost. -A life we have known, the hope for the life we want- These stages are only tools to help us identify what we may be feeling. But they are not stops on some linear timeline of grief.” Recognize where you are at. Understand it is ok to feel these feelings. Have the pity party for a short time in whatever phase you are in and remember you do not have to stay there. Always remember that your back pack is a reach away. Make today matter even if it doesn’t look like you want it to.
As difficult as change is, at the end of the day we all get through it. One way or another we all get through it.
